The fourth of Benjamin and Alice Bressack’s five sons, I was born September 15, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. I lived in North Bellmore, New York until I went to college. I got married in 1969 and graduated from University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT, in June of that same year with a BA in Biology. I graduated from Georgetown Dental School in Washington, DC, in June 1973, with a DDS. Married in 1969, I served in the Indian Public Health Service for a year and then had a private general holistic dental practice in Middletown, NY from 1974-1996. In 1989, tragedy struck. In February of that year, me and my first wife decided to end our marriage. A few months later, on Thanksgiving night, my son, Blue River, age 16, daughter, Dovee Kay, age 12, and mother, Alice, were killed in a car accident in which my son, Noah Ben, and I were injured.

In 1989 after separating from his first wife, I met my second wife, Abby, through a relationship workshop, and for many years, we were involved with that organization, learning, and supporting other men and women to have successful long-term relationships. We were married in January of 1994, and adopted a baby boy, Justin Lloyd, from a Russian orphanage, later that year. In March of that same year, I injured my right hand in a freak accident at home, which rendered me unable to practice dentistry and eventually led to me selling my dental practice.

Both the fatal car accident in which I was involved, and the hand injury I sustained, were traumatic events that have deeply affected me, and have led me on a path of spirituality and self-healing. Most importantly, the amazing, loving relationship I have had with Abby for 20 years has been most influential in my recovery to a full and happy life.

In 1996, we moved to Woodstock, New York. Although I am retired from the practice of dentistry, I have still maintained my membership in several dental associations and organizations. Most recently, Abby and I have been involved in the study of Mind/Body Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology, especially EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). I earned my EFT Level 2 Practitioner Certificate and my EFT-Advanced Certification in 2008. In June of 2011, I graduated form International Coach Academy’s (ICA) Certified Professional Coach Program and received my certification as a professional coach (CPC).

Surely one of the great joys of my life has been the writing I have been doing for nearly 50 years. From 1973-2000, I wrote articles on natural dentistry and nutrition for newspapers and magazines. From 1963-present, I have been writing poetry, short stories and essays with family, social, political, spiritual, environmental, and anti-war and pro-peace themes that have appeared in a variety of anthologies, magazines, newspapers, journals and websites. I have self-published three books of poetry with theme-reflecting photographs, Rosenberg’s Farm, Driving Towards The Sunset and First You Laugh. I have truly led a full life, with the highs as high as they come, and the lows as low as they go. Blessed with friends, family and love, I consider myself a very lucky man.
